Inspired, Innovative, Sustainable
Innovation is at the heart of everything we do at Affan Innovative Structures. We harness advanced technologies and forward-thinking ideas to push the boundaries of possibility. From pioneering materials to sustainable practices, our solutions shape a smarter, greener future — delivering structures that are as inspiring as they are enduring.

Innovation in Advanced Structural Composite
Project Reference: Sidra Medical and Research Center

Structural Analysis
The structural analysis reveals heavy steel construction with high deflections (Total steel weight for both canopies was approximately 680 tons).

Architectural Slenderness
The desired architectural slenderness could not be maintained. However, we optimized the design to reduce the structural depth from 1700mm to 200mm.

Advanced Composite Integration
- No need for purlins
- No need for backing panels
- No need for insulation
- No need for water proofing membrane
- SS are directly infused with upper and lower surfaces of carbon beams

Design Modification
AFFAN modified the design into steel and carbon fibers while keeping the original architectural dimensions.

Lightweight Structural Design
Primary Steel Structure becomes relatively light (less than 150 tons), Concrete foundation also becomes light: important for a seismic zone.

Architectural Precision with Composite Materials
- Architectural Parameters can now be maintained.
- Composite Offer Stiff Surfaces.
- It is worth noting that 0.8mm SS Sheets are used instead of 3mm thick sheets which is specified.

Infusion Process Benefits
The additional benefit of the infusion process is the ability to create extremely flat panels as the stainless steel is infused as part of the production under vacuum.
Innovation in Glass and Steel
Project Reference: Dusit Hotel

Innovative Structural Concept
Our first truly innovative idea involved using structural steel shells with glass as a load-bearing structural element, redefining modern construction techniques.

Cold-Bent Glass Barrel Vault Skylight
The roof is constructed from shells and the glass panels are cold bent to achieve the double curvature of the roof.

65m x 35m Skylight
A landmark achievement featuring curved steel shells and cold-bent glass. This skylight is both structurally significant and aesthetically stunning, showcasing the seamless integration of glass and steel.
